In the mosque, where children’s voices echo in the courtyard, the little ones are very excited to learn the basics of modern science in addition to their religious education. The children, who develop technology with software and coding lessons, express themselves with drama, and develop their intellectual skills with intelligence games, turn the mosque into a school. Medina Defender Fahrettin Pasha Mosque Imam Hatip Enes Abdurrahman Grant, brought this vision to life three years ago and aims to equip children with moral values while preparing them for the world of the future.

In his statement to AA correspondent, Grant stated that children attending summer courses receive intensive Quran education and are also supported with various social activities. 150 studentsIn the course he attended, the last hour of the 4-hour training, 5 days a week, includes English, software and coding, drama and intelligence games lessons. Grant said, “We approach the education of our students with love; we work to support their development. Families who breathe the air of happiness in our mosque even make their holiday plans according to this course.”

Emphasizing that the aim of these courses is to raise children as individuals with good morals, Grant said, “We are working to ensure that our children are raised with good morals and to create a beautiful synergy by blending the beauties of religion with science-related lessons. We are trying to make all our students love our religion.”

Science and Technology Supported Education

Bilim ve Teknoloji Destekli Eğitim

Computer engineer Ahmet Kaplan, has been teaching software and coding to students at the Fahrettin Pasha Mosque for three years. Expressing his happiness for teaching here, Kaplan said, “Students are very interested and curious. We want to direct their curiosity to the better with the right algorithms and coding techniques. We explain basic computer concepts according to the level of the children and teach coding By combining it with the religious concepts in our lives. We offer our children both religious and technological information by reflecting the peace in the mosque to coding.”

Drama class teacher Gulsum Pusuroglu, conveyed that the children felt like they were on stage in the mosque environment and said, “In our previous lesson, we started from the Shahada and progressed to witnessing our feelings. The aim is for them to recognize and witness their feelings here; to combine the feeling in the mosque with that feeling inside them when they return home and to collect beautiful memories.”

English teacher Serif Kaplan, stated that the students learned English willingly and said, “I think they understand the surahs better with English. Every language means a new person. Every word opens a new window in the world of meaning of a person. They know the Arabic and Turkish versions of the Basmala, but hearing it in English opens up new horizons for them.”

Classroom teacher Sumeyye YildirimHe noted that he voluntarily gave mind and intelligence games to children, which helped them love the mosque and develop their attention, concentration and teamwork skills.
