Galatasaray’s Left Back Reinforcement: Leif Davis
Galatasaray, who planned to part ways with Derrick Köhn, who could not show the expected performance in the Beşiktaş derby, took action to reinforce the left-back position. After Köhn, who could not meet the demands of technical director Okan Buruk, the management began to focus on new names.
Among the names on the agenda were Rangers’ Rıdvan Yılmaz and Malmö’s Mathias Lövik. However, a new name has recently entered Galatasaray’s radar: Ipswich Town’s Leif Davis.
Yesterday, Galatasaray management made their first contact with Davis, asking about the 24-year-old left-back’s situation. According to Fotomaç, Leif Davis, who transferred from Leeds United to Ipswich Town for 1.2 million euros in July 2022, has played an important role in his team’s promotion from League One to the Championship and then to the Premier League.
Davis has played in 86 league matches over the last two seasons, scoring 5 goals and making 35 assists. Following this success, it has been learned that Galatasaray will knock on Ipswich Town’s door with a €5 million offer for the player.
Although Leif Davis’ contract runs until 2025, the player is keen to leave his club. Although the Ipswich side want to exercise the +1 year option in the contract, the player’s side do not want this situation.
