Israeli Foreign Minister’s Claims

İsrail Dışişleri Bakanı'nın İddiaları

Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said in a written statement that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps was collaborating with Hamas in Lebanon to smuggle money and weapons through Jordan. Katz said the collaboration was aimed at establishing an Iranian-backed group in the occupied West Bank by bringing “dangerous weapons and large sums of money.”

Katz stressed that this situation presents an opportunity to “target Tel Aviv and the densely populated centers of Israel.” He therefore said that work should be accelerated to build a barrier along the eastern border to prevent arms smuggling from Jordan to Israel.

On the other hand, no statement has been made by the Jordanian authorities regarding the Israeli Foreign Minister’s claims. In a report broadcast yesterday by the Israeli state television channel KAN, Minister Katz argued that the Jenin Refugee Camp in the occupied West Bank should be evacuated and that methods similar to those applied in the Gaza Strip should be applied here as well.

It should not be forgotten that since October 7, when Israel launched its offensive against the Gaza Strip, there has been a significant increase in detentions, raids and attacks against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.
