Borrell Reacts to Attacks in Gaza

Borrell'den Gazze'deki Saldırılara Tepki

European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell expressed his deep concern and horror regarding Israel’s attacks on Gaza in a post he shared on the X social media platform. Borrell summarized the situation with the words, “We are horrified by the images coming from a refugee school in Gaza that was hit by an Israeli attack.” He also stated that he had received information that dozens of Palestinians had lost their lives in the attacks.

Borrell, recalling that at least 10 schools in Gaza have been targeted in recent weeks, said, “There is no justification for these massacres.” Borrell, emphasizing that the number of deaths in Gaza reached horrific levels, exceeding 40 thousand, drew attention to the extent of destruction and pain brought about by the war.

Borrell also criticized the far-right Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich’s opposition to an agreement that was against the interests of the Israeli people, saying, “We condemn and regret this situation.” Borrell emphasized that the only way to stop the killing of civilians and release the hostages was a ceasefire.

On the other hand, the attack carried out by the occupying Israeli army on the Et-Tabiin School, where the people were displaced taking shelter in the Derej Neighborhood in eastern Gaza, was also recorded as a great tragedy. It was reported that at least 100 people were martyred and many were injured in the attack, which was carried out during morning prayers at the school where thousands of people were taking shelter. Local sources reported that the bodies were torn apart and burned as a result of the attack, and that civil defense teams had great difficulty in collecting the body parts scattered around.
