An Evaluation of Soner Yalçın’s “Tağut The Genealogy of the Holy Deception”

Soner Yalçın’ın

Businessman Murat Ülker made an in-depth analysis of the book “Tağut Kutsal Deception Mother Tree” written by Soner Yalçın and made important assessments. Here are the highlights of Ülker’s latest article:

SONER YALÇIN WROTE: TAGUT, THE FAMILY TREE OF THE SACRED DECEPTION

“The coward refuses to face the truth and becomes irritable. The ignorant cannot comprehend the ‘truth’ and belittles it. The traitor distorts and perverts the ‘truth’ in pursuit of his own interests.

The preface of this book, written to Alev Alatlı, draws attention due to the depth it contains. Yalçın makes the reader think by presenting various perspectives from every period and every perspective in his work.

Soner Yalçın’ın 'Tağut Kutsal Aldanışın Soyağacı' Üzerine Değerlendirme

THE ORDER OF TAGUT FROM THE PREFACE

“I write not as much truth as I want, but as much as I dare, and as I get older I dare a little more.”-Montaigne

One of the greatest illnesses of humanity is to place the blame on someone else. This book does not seek a culprit; it aims to contribute to those who think about how the problem can be solved. Yalçın exhibits a solution-oriented approach based on facts. It should not be forgotten that those who do not take part in the solution become part of the problems.

Oliver Sacks emphasizes the importance of brain functions with his book “The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat”. While the brain creates miracles when it is under control, it shows what can happen when control is lost. The brain plays both an enlightening and a disruptive role.

“When you ask an Arab to show his heart, he points to his head. Before you ask, I will tell you about the heart.”

Now, let’s take a closer look at Taghut. Perception is extremely dangerous; it causes you to lose touch with reality. In order to distinguish between dreams and reality, it is necessary to be realistic. What can be done to avoid being carried away by perceptions? It is necessary to look at religion as a whole and avoid a fragmented understanding.

When discussing the origins of capitalism, the question of why Europe was the birthplace of this system comes to mind. While historians accept that Europe was not the source of civilization, thinkers such as Samir Amin argue that Europe was underdeveloped and built capitalism in line with its needs.

Yalçın states that Samir Amin divides the emergence of capitalism into four major rupture periods:

  • 1500
  • 1800
  • 1880
  • 1990

He emphasizes that the bourgeoisie used to consist of large and autonomous families, and has now turned into centralized oligarchies. Third World Countries will not be able to build a future without breaking away from imperialist exploitation. Real development can be achieved with an anti-imperialist attitude.

Citing Alexander Anievas and Kerem Nişancıoğlu’s research “How the Western Dominance Was Established,” Yalçın questions the Ottoman influence on early modern Europe. He states that Ottoman conquests created the necessity for Europe to explore.

“Then we must ask again: Why did the Ottoman Empire, the ‘superpower’ that enabled Europe to become capitalist, fall behind?”

Mehmet Akif, while questioning the reasons for the “lost three hundred years” deficit, states that this question is still valid today. Yalçın explains the purpose of his book as follows:

“Why do we always experience political-economic crises? Why do we create a conflicting atmosphere? Why do the fights within the country never end?”

As a result, correct politicalness lies at the root of these problems. In an environment where freedom of expression is restricted in order not to offend different identities, individuals cannot express their thoughts freely. Similar situations are experienced in our country; Those who oppose superstition are labeled as enemies of religion, and those who criticize terrorism are labeled as ethnic enemies.

It is emphasized that the understanding political labeled as religion, instead of providing freedom and economic wealth in society, only increases intervention through cultural impositions. It is stated that the “usable” Islamist political views created by British imperialism at the beginning of the century became a tool of the USA during the Cold War.

He states that religion is used as a strategy to ensure the dominance of global capital in today’s ideologies. The question of how this situation is ignored is posed to the reader.

“The connection with reality is now being broken, irrationality is spreading to every area. In such periods, the intellectual adapts to the majority.”

Quoting Samir Amin, Yalçın states that global capitalism and political Islam need each other. This situation forms the background of Western powers’ need for terrorism.

In conclusion, there is a recipe for the future of humanity. The code for a future that will put an end to exploitation and deception is hidden in the past. It is remarkable how the equality and justice understanding of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) revived people. While purifying people from their claims of superiority, the Prophet emphasized the importance of justice and equality.

“Getting the most out of life means living dangerously.”-Nietzsche

While Soner Yalçın focuses on these difficult issues in his book, he offers his readers the opportunity to think deeply. The book addresses the confusion of society and the recent historical drifts in seven chapters. It makes the reader think by giving examples from current issues. Because, the sun of truth rises only as a result of intellectual discussions. I wish everyone ease on this path.
