Important Statements from Palestine’s UN Representative Mansour

Filistin'in BM'deki Temsilcisi Mansur'dan Önemli Açıklamalar

According to the news published in the official Palestinian agency WAFA, Palestine’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Riyad Mansour, sent a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, UN General Assembly President Dennis Francis and Russia’s Representative Vassilly Nebenzia, who holds the monthly presidency of the UN Security Council (UNSC).

In his letters, Mansour stated that Israel was waging an “arbitrary war” against the Palestinian people in clear violation of UNSC resolutions, and used the following expressions: “Israel has been waging a genocidal war against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip for exactly 300 days. The number of Palestinian children, women and elderly killed in Gaza, as well as volunteers and journalists working in the field of humanitarian aid and health, continues to increase.”

Mansour reported that the Israeli army continued to bomb homes and residential neighborhoods in the Gaza Strip, and that civilians abducted from Gaza were subjected to all kinds of torture and abuse in Israeli prisons during this period. He also noted that both the Israeli army and “usurper settlers” continued to launch violent attacks against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem during this period.

Mansour stated that the Tel Aviv administration has demolished Palestinian homes in the West Bank and Jerusalem and implemented “new settlement projects” on their lands, “Israel is forcing the Palestinians in the West Bank and Jerusalem into exile through its extensive attacks.”He also emphasized that Israel is “a rogue state”He reminds us of the assassination attempt on Hamas Political Bureau Chairman Ismail Haniyeh, stating that he continues to act like one: “This assassination and the ones that preceded it prove that Israel will continue to behave as a rogue state.”

Mansour, who stated that the assassination of Haniyeh was a clear violation of Iranian sovereignty, noted that the Israeli army had already repeated similar violations against Lebanese and Syrian lands. Mansour, who called for Israel to be held accountable for the assassination of Haniyeh and the brutal killing and wounding of more than 130,000 Palestinians in Gaza, said: “He called for an end to Israel’s attacks on Gaza, which have been going on for nearly 10 months.”

Mansour accused Israel of trying to disrupt regional stability and drag the Middle East into a full-scale war. Since October 7, a total of 39,480 Palestinians have been killed in attacks on the Gaza Strip, including at least 16,172 children and 10,798 women, while 91,128 people have been injured. It was reported that thousands of people are still dead under the rubble, and that civilian infrastructure has been destroyed, with hospitals and educational institutions where people have sought refuge.
