France Issues Travel Warning to Iran
The French Foreign Ministry has issued a significant travel warning to its citizens in Iran. The warning draws attention to the seriousness of the risk of increased military tensions between Israel and Iran following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Hamas Political Bureau. In this context, French citizens in Iran are urged to leave the country as soon as possible.
The warning emphasized that the travel warning for all of Iran is at level red. In this context, the statement “French citizens are officially advised not to travel to Iran, for any reason whatsoever.” was used.
Ismail Haniyeh was targeted in an assassination attempt in Tehran, the capital of Iran, on July 31, 2023. While both Iran and Hamas claimed that Israel was behind this attack, the Tel Aviv administration preferred to remain silent on the issue. On the other hand, Israel, which has continued its attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, has also been engaged in clashes with Lebanese Hezbollah on its northern border.
