Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi hosted Luxembourg Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Xavier Bettel in the capital Amman. Regional issues were discussed at the joint press conference.
Ayman al-Safadi stressed that it is unacceptable for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to determine the future of the region. Safadi said, “Stopping the brutal war in Gaza will be the first step in reducing tensions.”
Jordan’s Foreign Minister said the assassination of the head of Hamas’ political bureau was a violation of international law, arguing that Israel does not want peace. Safadi said that “Israel undermines mediation efforts.”
Safadi called on the international community to take steps to stop Israel’s attacks and called on the United Nations Security Council not to “allow Israel to bring further destruction to the region.”
Luxembourg Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Xavier Bettel expressed his support for peace by stating that he “believes that the Palestinian issue should be resolved according to a two-state solution.”
