Following the postponement of the men’s individual race due to pollution in the Seine, organizers have confirmed that the men’s and women’s Olympic triathlon events will proceed as scheduled on Wednesday.
Event Schedule
The women’s individual race is set to start at 8 a.m., followed by the rescheduled men’s event at 10:45 a.m., as announced by the Olympics organizers in a statement released before dawn on Wednesday.
Water Quality Analysis
The threat of postponements loomed over Olympic events in the Seine due to increased pollution levels. However, the latest water quality analysis, received by Paris government representatives and officials at 3:20 a.m. local time on Wednesday, deemed the conditions safe for the triathlon races.
Postponement Reason
The men’s triathlon race was postponed initially after heavy rain over the weekend led to elevated levels of dangerous bacteria in the river. World Triathlon, the governing body for the sport, reviewed the water quality analysis and confirmed it to be “compliant” for the races.
Confirmation
World Triathlon affirmed the readiness for the races with a post on X on Wednesday morning, stating, “We will swim.”
