Young people from a theater workshop operating in Elazığ started to stage the theater play “Occupation” in order to draw attention to the attacks of the occupying Israel against Palestine. The 11th stop of the play was the village of Kuyulu.
Mahmut Yıldırım, the head of the theater workshop, stated that they aimed to tell the story of the Israeli oppression that has been going on for years through theater. Yıldırım said, “We chose theater to tell the best story of what happened in Gaza. We aim to raise awareness by revealing the suffering of innocent people.”
Young theater actor Can Enis Deniz stated that the play aims to make the audience feel the pain experienced by Palestinians by portraying it. Deniz said, “We are showing our reaction to Israel with this play. We are trying to tell the story of the oppression in Palestine by touching people’s emotions.”
- Damla Ateş, who lives in the village of Kuyulu, stated that the theater narrates the suffering in Palestine more effectively and emphasized that the genocide in Palestine must be stopped.
