AK Party Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik’s Reaction to CHP Deputy
AK Party Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik reacted strongly to CHP Istanbul MP Namık Tan’s criticism of foreign policy at the Turkish Grand National Assembly General Assembly, who described the expression “Blue Homeland” as a “fairy tale.” In a statement he made on his social media account, Çelik stated that Tan supported Greece’s claims against Turkey’s national policy with these words.
Çelik made the following statements:“CHP Deputy Namık Tan’s calling the Blue Homeland a ‘Fairy Tale’ is an unacceptable, irresponsible and inappropriate statement. This is an approach that has lost its political compass and supports Greece’s so-called theses against Turkey’s national politics.”
Ömer Çelik emphasized that the Blue Homeland is an inseparable part of Turkey and said, “We will continue to fight to protect our national rights, interests and benefits in the Blue Homeland.” Çelik stated that what those defending Greece’s claims say is nothing more than a political demand and touched on the importance of defending Turkey’s rights in the Aegean and the Mediterranean.
With these statements, Ömer Çelik was seen to have taken a clear stance against the “Blue Homeland” coming criticism from the CHP and given the message that Turkey would continue to defend its rights at sea.
