Asda Prison in Khan Younis, where prisoners were released after the Gaza attacks began about 10 months ago, has become a shelter for Palestinians in Khan Younis, which has been under intense attack for the last 4 days. Despite its unsafe nature, Palestinians who were forced to move into the building, which was damaged by attacks and clashes, are trying to find shelter here, deprived of the basic necessities of life.
The Drama of the Palestinians
- Nezire al-Rakab: “We left our homes as shells and bullets rained down on us. We had to take shelter in Asda Prison. Although it was not safe, we had no other alternative. When we left home, we did not know where to go.”
- Ummu Abdullah Abu Mustafa: “This is the first time we have seen a prison. The prison is dark and not fit for living. We have to buy water from outside because there is no water here.”
- Another Palestinian woman: “We left home, we didn’t know where to go. We took refuge in the prison, but we had to sleep on the floor because we didn’t have any belongings.”
