At least 30 individuals lost their lives, and numerous others sustained injuries during a 24-hour period from Wednesday to Thursday in Gaza Strip, as the Israeli military intensified its operations in Khan Younis. The military expanded its presence into areas previously designated as safe zones for civilians escaping the conflict.
The Israeli military justified its actions by targeting Hamas forces that it alleged were using civilians as shields. The situation in Khan Younis escalated as the conflict continued to unfold.
Humanitarian Crisis Unfolds
Several victims were transported to the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis for urgent medical care. Heart-wrenching images captured by a photographer depicted injured children being rushed into the hospital for treatment.
Dr. Mohammad Saqer, the nursing director at Nasser Hospital, attended to children with severe blast injuries believed to be caused by the ongoing bombardment. He expressed concerns over the limited medical supplies and fuel reaching the hospital, making it challenging to provide adequate care.
Dr. Saqer lamented the dire situation, stating, “So many casualties, so many wounded, and insufficient resources. We are facing a disastrous scenario, with electricity rationed, air conditioning turned off, and every effort made to conserve our limited resources.”
