Speaking publicly for the first time since securing substantial damages from Mirror Group Newspapers over privacy invasion claims, the 39-year-old prince expressed his sense of vindication following the judge’s ruling. In an excerpt released by ITV News from an upcoming documentary on the phone-hacking scandal, Prince Harry emphasized the importance of his legal actions, stating, “I’ve made it very clear that this is something that needs to be done.” He also expressed a desire for a more united approach within the family, saying, “It would be nice if we, you know, did it as a family.”
While Harry did not delve into the specifics of how his legal battles further strained his relationships with his father, King Charles III, and his brother, Prince William, his memoir, “Spare,” hinted at various contributing factors, including the treatment of his wife, Meghan Markle.
Prince Harry’s decision to take legal action against the tabloids placed the royal family in an uncomfortable position. His lawsuit against Rupert Murdoch’s News Group Newspapers shed light on Prince William’s own settlement with the publisher over claims of phone hacking, revealing a “huge sum of money” involved.
