Elon Musk announced in a post on his X social media account that the Starlink satellite internet system has begun to be used in a hospital in Gaza. Musk said, “Starlink is now active in a hospital in Gaza with the support of the United Arab Emirates and Israel.” However, no detailed information was given about which hospital was using this service.

According to The Times of Israel, it was stated that the occupying Israeli authorities approved the use of Starlink in a field hospital established with the support of the United Arab Emirates.

Following the complete outage of landline, mobile phone and internet services in the Gaza Strip last year, hundreds of users requested the Starlink satellite system to be put into service for humanitarian aid coordination. Elon Musk did not leave this request unanswered, announcing that his Starlink company would provide connection services to well-known international aid organizations in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi reacted to Elon Musk’s attempt to provide internet to international aid organizations in the Gaza Strip and said they would fight to prevent this. In a meeting with Musk in November last year, it was stated that an agreement in principle was reached that Starlink would not provide satellite internet to the Gaza Strip without Tel Aviv’s approval.
