UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric expressed concern about Israel’s targeting of a UN convoy at his daily press briefing. Dujarric said the killing of UN personnel in Gaza was alarming and stressed that all deaths would be investigated.
Dujarric stated that humanitarian aid workers in Gaza face great risks, and remind that the UN works under the protection of all parties and does not have weapons. Stating that the harsh statements of Israeli authorities towards the UN make their job difficult, Dujarric emphasized that the safety of humanitarian aid workers must be ensured.
Dujarric said that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has no plans to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington, adding that the Prime Minister has no plans to come to New York, but if he does, the Secretary-General’s door is open.
