A tragic incident unfolded in Daruvar, Croatia, where a gunman carried out a deadly attack at a facility for older and infirm individuals. The shooting resulted in the loss of at least six lives, with six others sustaining injuries, as confirmed by Croatia’s police chief.
The perpetrator, wielding a handgun, opened fire at the home, claiming the lives of five residents and one employee. Five victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while one passed away later at the hospital. The police chief, Nikola Milina, mentioned that the handgun used in the attack was unregistered.
The town of Daruvar, known as a spa town with a population of around 10,000, was shaken by the tragic event, which occurred approximately 62 miles southeast of Zagreb, the capital city of Croatia.
Following the incident, a suspect was swiftly apprehended at a nearby restaurant. Although the police did not disclose the suspect’s identity at the time, it was revealed that the individual was a member of a military police unit and was already familiar to law enforcement.
