Children’s Rights Violations in the West Bank, According to UNICEF Report
According to a report published by UNICEF, children’s rights are being seriously violated in the occupied West Bank. The report detailed the events that took place in the 9-month period before and after October 7, 2023.
According to the report, a total of 143 Palestinian children have been martyred in the occupied West Bank since October 2023. It was also emphasized that 41 Palestinian children were martyred in the 9 months ago to this date. The report stated that there has been a 250% increase in the number of martyred children in the recent period.
The report also stated that the number of Palestinian children injured by live ammunition in the 9-month period after October 7, 2023, was more than 440. It was stated that the children live in fear for their lives and that their safety is at risk . The report included information that they are afraid to walk around their neighborhoods or go to school.
UNICEF reiterated its call for an immediate end to violations of children’s rights and stressed the need to adhere to obligations under international law.

According to the statements in the report, UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell stated that children living in the West Bank have been subjected to violence and human rights violations for a long time. “It is unacceptable that Palestinian children face violence and danger in their daily lives. What children need most is for the violence to end and for a lasting political solution to be found,” Russell said.
Russell emphasized that children’s rights must be respected and their safety must be ensured, and that children’s future must be protected and their rights defended.
