Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed’s Allegations Towards Ankara
Shanaz İbrahim Ahmed made a controversial statement targeting Ankara with posts she shared on her X social media account. Regarding Turkey’s new operations, Ahmed claimed that at least 602 villages were under threat and that a school and a Syrian church were destroyed as a result of the attacks.
Ahmed also referred to messages from Hero Talabani, the wife of Iraqi President Abdullatif Rashid, who is from the Sulaymaniyah-based Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), in which she accused Turkey of supporting the PKK and imposed an embargo.
Ankara-PUK Tension
There have been problems between Ankara and the PUK regarding the terrorist organization PKK for years. There had been tension between PUK Chairman Bafil Talabani’s statements about the PKK and Turkey’s reaction.
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan had stated that Turkey’s sanctions on Sulaymaniyah would continue and that they would take further measures if the PUK did not change its attitude towards the PKK.
Iraqi first lady Hero Talabani, the daughter of Iraqi Kurdish oppositionist Ibrahim Ahmed, has not yet made an official statement about the tension between Ankara and Sulaymaniyah.
