An 80 kilo handmade explosive device (IED) containing a mixture of ammonium nitrate and sugar, which was detonated on the side of the road in the Hani district of Diyarbakır, was found and destroyed by the gendarmerie. The operation was carried out near the rural Topçular Neighborhood of the Hani district on July 16 within the scope of the Martyr Gendarmerie Specialist Sergeant Uğur Kartal Operation carried out by the Provincial Gendarmerie Command.
In the operation, a handmade explosive was detected in the searches conducted by the Lice Gendarmerie Commando Battalion Command and Hani District Gendarmerie Command METİ teams with the scent-sensitive dog ‘Cebir’. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team (PAMIT) was dispatched to the region.
After taking the necessary security measures in the area, 80 kilos of IEDs containing a mixture of ammonium nitrate and sugar were destroyed. There were no casualties or injuries following the operation.
