The Story of the Historical Mansion Transformed into a Vineyard Museum
The 150-year-old historical mansion in Germir Neighborhood of Kayseri, where Oscar-winning director Elia Kazan was born, is being restored by Melikgazi Municipality and transformed into a vineyard museum. With this project, the heritage of Germir Neighborhood, where viticulture was widespread in the past and was the subject of folk songs, will be preserved.
Transferring Vineyard Culture to Future Generations
Melikgazi Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu emphasized the importance of viticultural culture in Kayseri and stated that the mansion belonging to the Bakkaloğlu family in Germir Neighborhood will be restored and transformed into a vineyard museum. Palancıoğlu stated that the vineyard culture will be kept alive here and passed on to future generations.
Restoration Work and Future Plans
With the completion of the restoration of the mansion, visitors will be able to draw water from the well, pick fruit from the fruit trees and experience the vineyard culture. In addition, it is aimed to revive this culture by organizing various events in the summer months.
The Future of Germir District
Palancıoğlu stated that the restoration work carried out in historical neighborhoods has made a positive contribution to the development of the region. Expressing that the aim is to return Germir, Tavlusun and Derevenk Valley to their old days, Palancıoğlu emphasized that it is important to restore and protect other historical structures in the region.
