Elon Musk has announced plans to relocate the headquarters of two of his prominent businesses, the social media platform X and the rocket manufacturer SpaceX, from California to Texas. This decision comes as a response to a recent law in California aimed at protecting transgender children.

On Tuesday, Mr. Musk expressed his discontent with the new legislation signed by California Governor, Gavin Newsom, which prohibits school districts from mandating teachers to inform parents about their children’s gender identity changes. In a post on X, Musk stated, “This is the final straw…attacking both families and companies.”

Requests for comments from SpaceX, X, and Elon Musk regarding the headquarters relocation have not been immediately answered.

Previously, Elon Musk demonstrated a similar stance against California’s policies by moving Tesla’s headquarters from Palo Alto to Austin, Texas, amid stringent COVID-19 lockdown measures in the Bay Area. Musk criticized the restrictions that led to the closure of Tesla’s Fremont factory as “fascist.”
