In a groundbreaking move, her hit song “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” was transmitted to Venus via giant radio towers, marking a historic moment in interplanetary communication.
The transmission, which took place on July 12, was facilitated by a 112-foot-wide radio dish located near Barstow, California. Traveling at the speed of light, the song journeyed 158 million miles to reach Venus, the planet that holds special significance for Elliott.

The transmission of “The Rain” to Venus was made possible through NASA’s Deep Space Network, a sophisticated system enabling communication with distant spacecraft. Comprising sites in California, Australia, and Spain strategically positioned 120 degrees apart, the network ensures continuous contact with spacecraft as they traverse space.
