Hamas said in a written statement that its leader Ismail Haniyeh held contacts with mediators and regional countries following Israel’s attack on the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, where displaced Palestinians from the Gaza Strip have taken refuge.

It was reported that at least 90 people were killed and 300 were injured in the Israeli army’s attack on the al-Mawasi region. It was stated that Hamas gave a positive and responsible response to the offer of an agreement to stop the attacks on Gaza, but Israel’s attitude on this issue prevented the agreement.

The statement included the following words of Ismail Haniye:

“However, the Israeli stance taken by Netanyahu, including media statements that include new conditions and points not included in the negotiated document, represents steps that prevent the agreement from being reached. This is also linked to the heinous massacres carried out by Israel in different parts of Gaza. With these steps, Netanyahu is obstructing the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement.”

The statement also called on mediators in Egypt and Qatar, the US administration and others to stop attacks on Gaza and achieve peace.
