At least 90 people were martyred and 300 were injured in the attack on the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, where displaced Palestinians in the Gaza Strip were taking refuge and which had previously been declared a “safe zone”. Following this tragic incident, national and Islamic groups in Palestine declared a general strike in the West Bank to show their reaction.
As part of the strike, all workplaces in the cities of Bethlehem, Tulkerim, Jenin and Qalqilya are closed. Only health centers continue to operate. The streets in the cities are empty, transportation has come to a standstill and commercial activities have come to a standstill.
This general strike, which occurred after the Israeli army’s attack on the Al-Mawasi region, caused extraordinary silence and inactivity in the West Bank. The Palestinian people came together and decided to strike in order not to forget this painful event and to raise their reactions.
