The July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day Commemoration Ceremony will be held in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The program in the Assembly will begin with the laying of carnations at the July 15 Martyrs’ Monument in the area bombed in the Assembly garden on the night of FETÖ’s coup attempt. An exhibition titled “Victory of the Nation” will be held in the Hall of Honor. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will also attend the ceremony.

The General Assembly will continue to discuss the proposal that proposes changes to the Teaching Profession Act. With the regulation, penalties for crimes such as threats, insults and assaults against all education workers will be increased by 50 percent. Prison sentences cannot be submitted in violent incidents, and these crimes will be considered direct grounds for arrest, and the path to trial without detention will be closed. The proposal will establish a National Education Academy. Teacher candidates will receive training here before appointment.

The first discussions of the 17-article bill on stray dogs, which the AKP has presented to the Presidency of the Assembly, will begin in the commission this week. The proposal will increase the responsibility of municipalities regarding stray animals. Sanctions will be imposed on municipalities that do not use the budget allocated for stray animals. Those who abandon their pets will pay 60 thousand liras, and those who abandon dogs in empty spaces will pay 50 thousand liras per animal. The conditions of shelters will also be improved regarding neutering, vaccination and care of stray stray dogs.
