Statements by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made important statements regarding the attack targeting Mohammed al-Dayf and the situation in Gaza.
Netanyahu said the attack targeted the leader of Hamas’ armed wing, the Izz ad-Din Qassam Brigades, Mohammed al-Dayf, and his deputy, but added that there was no specific information about their deaths.
When asked about the US administration not being informed before the attack, Netanyahu said, “They did not want to risk infiltration.”
Netanyahu stated that they resisted the pressure to stop the attacks in Gaza and continued the attacks to achieve their goals.
The Gaza Health Ministry said that 90 people were killed in the Israeli army’s attack on Khan Younis, and that Israel had defined the al-Mawasi area as a “safe zone”.
Netanyahu’s Insistence on the Ceasefire
Prime Minister Netanyahu said he was committed to the prisoner swap and ceasefire, but made it on condition that attacks on Gaza continue until they achieve their goals.
He called for Israel’s continued control of the Philadelphia Corridor to prevent arms smuggling to Hamas and to ensure the safe release of prisoners.
The Negotiation Process Between Israel and Hamas
It was stated that the new ceasefire proposal presented by US President Joe Biden was not accepted by Israel and the attacks will continue.
Netanyahu stated that Israel’s proposal was different from Biden’s and that they would continue the attacks until they achieved the set goals.
