The data in the report was collected from relatives of those who lost their lives in prisons, as well as from burial and forensic medicine documents. The report stated that more than 80,000 people suspected of being gang members have been sent to prison since 2022, while at least 261 people have lost their lives in prisons.

According to the report, it was emphasized that the majority of those who lost their lives died from reasons such as disease and violence, and the cause of some deaths could not be determined.

El Salvador has one of the highest murder rates in the world and faces serious security problems due to the power of gangs in the country.
