British Foreign Secretary David Lammy said the Israeli attack on a school in Gaza where Palestinians were taking refuge was “shocking” and called for measures to be taken to protect civilians and for an immediate ceasefire.
Lammy described the civilian casualties in the school attack as “shocking” in a post on her Twitter account. Lammy, the UK’s new Foreign Secretary, said: “The devastating violence in Gaza has been going on for too long. We call for immediate action to protect civilians, an immediate ceasefire and the release of all prisoners.”
Twenty-nine people were killed and at least 53 were injured when the Israeli army attacked the gate of a school where displaced Palestinians were taking shelter in the city of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.
