259th International University Board Meeting
At the 259th Interuniversity Board Meeting held at the Council of Higher Education, YÖK President Erol Özvar emphasized that they are working to create an accessible and inclusive system in higher education. Özvar explained the efforts to provide qualified higher education opportunities to all segments of our country. He stated that more than 1 million quotas have been created in universities with major investments made this year and the work of the Council of Higher Education. He also emphasized that policies regarding the increase in demand for higher education should be created correctly.
109 Universities Have the Right to Use the TYÇ Logo
Özvar, who stated that the Turkish Qualifications Framework (TYÇ) logo will be included in the Higher Education Programs and Quotas Guide for the first time this year, stated that 898 programs of 109 universities currently have the right to use the TYÇ logo. He said that having the TYÇ logo provides international advantages for graduates and enables faster recognition of diplomas abroad.
Quotas for Programs with Decreasing Employment Links Are Being Reduced
YÖK President Özvar stated that employment-oriented programs should be supported and the quotas of programs with employment ties should be reduced. He explained that age restrictions were introduced in some programs in order to ensure control, especially in transitioning to the teaching profession. He also stated that the quotas in some programs were reduced and steps were taken to increase the quality of education.
Legislation Studies for International Students
Özvar stated that they have conducted a strong legislative study on international student mobility. He emphasized that this study aims to support the internationalization of universities and protect the rights of international students. He also announced that accreditation studies have been initiated to increase the quality of Turkish and English teaching centers.
Regional Meetings Will Be Held
YÖK President Özvar shared plans to organize regional meetings with universities. In these meetings, studies on information management systems of universities, national and international visibility, entrepreneurship and innovation will be shared. In addition, it will contribute to the determination of strategies regarding the Turkish higher education vision.
