HUDA PAR’s bill targeting Turkish citizens who participated in the genocide in Gaza will be discussed in the General Assembly of the Parliament today. According to the bill, if crimes are committed outside the country, Turkish laws will be applied regardless of the citizenship of the perpetrator and the victim.
With this proposal, taking into account the principle of universality, crimes committed abroad will be subject to criminal prosecution in Turkey. For example; If a Turkish citizen commits a crime against foreigners abroad, he/she will be punished according to Turkish law even if he/she is not in Turkey.
This bill, which will be discussed in the General Assembly of the Parliament, is considered an important step reflecting Turkey’s efforts to support the principles of human rights and justice in the international arena.
