Mandal: Türkiye Takes Important Steps in Space Industry

Mandal, who made evaluations about the important steps taken by Turkey in the field of space technologies, made statements at the launch ceremony of the Türksat 6A satellite. Mandal referred to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s “Turkey Century” vision and stated that Türksat 6A is one of the best examples of this vision.

Mandal emphasized Turkey’s recent work in the space field, mentioning achievements such as the launch of the İMECE observation satellite last year, Turkey’s first manned space mission and suborbital research flight. He also mentioned the launch of Turkey’s first domestic communications satellite, Türksat 6A.

Mandal, who stated that Turkey has become a country that has made a name for itself in the field of space, emphasized the importance of space in terms of international competition. Mandal, who stated that Turkey has transferred its success in the defense sector to the space sector, said that this success is important for the country, the region and humanity.

Mandal stated that Turksat 6A will operate at an altitude of 36 thousand kilometers, and that time is needed for the satellite to successfully complete its mission. Mandal also touched on the importance of Turkey reaching a qualified position in space, adding that it could reach a level where it could export satellite components.

Mandal stated that the next goal within the scope of Turkey’s National Space Program is a hard landing on the moon. He shared that Turkey, which plans to make a hard landing on the moon in 2026-2027, has goals such as soft landings and deep space studies later on.
