According to the statement made by the ministry, Turkey’s first domestic and national communication satellite, Türksat 6A, produced by Turkish engineers, will be launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA at 00:20 tonight. The launch will be carried out by the Space X company.
Expected Post-Launch Developments
Following the launch, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is expected to broadcast a video message and Minister Uraloğlu is expected to convey the excitement to Turkey via a live connection from Kennedy Space Center.
Minister Uraloğlu’s Assessment
Minister Uraloğlu stated that preparations for the launch were continuing smoothly and said, “With the launch of Türksat 6A, it will be a symbol of our independence and we will put the Turkish signature on space.”
Satellite’s Journey and Testing Process
It was stated that after the satellite was launched, it would set off with a chemical propulsion system and reach its permanent orbit at 42 degrees east longitude, 35,786 kilometers away. It was stated that the satellite would be put into operation after approximately 1 month of tests.
Satellite Features and Coverage Area
Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that Türksat 6A is one of Turkey’s most important R&D projects and that it is produced with a local content rate of over 80 percent, and stated that the satellite will meet Turkey’s needs with TV broadcasting, communication services and wide coverage. He also shared the information that it will serve 5 billion people by covering countries such as India, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
