Despite the hot weather, many people gathered in the Repubblica, one of the capital’s busy squares, to protest Israel’s attacks on Gaza and the West’s stance on the issue. The protesters described Israel’s attacks on Gaza as genocide and voiced their reactions.
During the march, demonstrators demanding the release of Anan Yaeesh and Mansour Doghmosh, who live in Italy and are held in detention for supporting Palestine, joined the process in support of Palestine by carrying Palestinian flags and messages of support.
Chanting slogans such as “Free Palestine” during the protest, demonstrators showed their support for the Palestinian people. Italian Michela said, “I want the ethnic cleansing and genocide carried out by Israel to the end. I am here to show solidarity. I am raising my voice against the hypocrisy that is happening at the international level.”
Michela, who made evaluations regarding the Italian Chamber of Representatives’ rejection of the proposal to recognize Palestine as a state, said, “This did not surprise me. Unfortunately, this did not surprise me.” Lorenzo also said, “What is happening in Palestine is shameful. I stand in solidarity with the events that the press misrepresents. I am here against barbaric massacres.”
Nationwide Demonstrations in Support of Palestine
In addition to the capital Rome, demonstrations in support of Palestine were also held in Italy’s second largest city, Milan. A large solidarity movement against Palestine began throughout Italy.
