Istanbul No. 2 Bar Association organized a march from Beyazıt to Sultanahmet to protest Israel’s massacre of children and women in Gaza. Deputy Minister of Justice Hurşit Yıldırım also supported the march of lawyers.
Gathering in Beyazıt Square, the lawyers wore their robes, chanted slogans and carried banners as they marched towards Sultanahmet Square. Slogans such as “Down with the genocidal, long live the children”, “Mother killer Israel”, “Murderer Israel, get out of Palestine” were chanted during the march.
In a statement made in front of the Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque, Istanbul 2nd Bar Association President Yasin Şamlı condemned the attacks carried out by Israel in Gaza, emphasizing that what is happening in Gaza is not war but barbarity and genocide. Damascus stated that Israel is trying to destroy the Palestinian people altogether.
Şamlı stated that as the Istanbul Bar Association No. 2, they brought the Israeli genocide to the agenda by applying to international law institutions and announced that they will continue their work to ensure justice.
Şamlı called on all lawyers and people to stand against genocide, saying, “History should be written not by genocidal people but by conscientious, honorable people and lawyers.” He stated that thousands of his colleagues had signed the application that Israel had committed war crimes.
It was stated that the signature campaign launched for the files prepared regarding the massacre of women and children in Israel is open to people from all over the world.
