In France, 49.5 million voters are going to the polls today for the second round of elections. 501 deputies will be elected in the country. The elections will continue between 08:00 and 18:00. In large cities, voting will continue until 20:00.

The leading alliances in the election race include the center-right Republican Party (LR) and the far-right National Rally (RN). Also of note are the Popular Front Alliance, formed by left-wing and environmentalist parties, and the “Together for the Republic” Alliance, made up of the ruling party partners of President Macron’s party Rönesans.

Election Results and Expectations

After the official results are announced by the Ministry of Interior, the estimated results of research companies will also be shared. According to the results, at least 289 MPs are needed to achieve an absolute majority in the 577-seat Parliament.

New Assembly Members and General Assembly Session

The new deputies will start their duties in the Parliament as of tomorrow. The first General Assembly session will convene on July 18, and votes will be cast to elect presidents of the new Parliament. At least 15 deputies must come together to form a group in the Parliament.

France has decided to hold early elections after the far-right RN increased its votes in the last three elections. Macron’s Renaissance party’s alliance against the far-right and the New Popular Front Alliance of left-wing parties are also competing strongly in the election.
