The Teaching Profession Bill was passed by the committee and placed on the agenda of the General Assembly. If the bill becomes law, the National Education Academy will be operational on January 1, 2025. This academy aims to eliminate the deficiencies in the practice of teachers.
National Education Academy and Institutions to be Closed
AK Party Sinop Deputy Nazım Maviş announced that the Ministry of National Education’s General Directorate of Teacher Training and Development will be closed with the opening of the National Education Academy. The academy’s plans also include opening branches in 30 metropolitan cities.
University Collaboration and Teacher Selection Process
Maviş, who provided information about the selection process of the educators who will work within the academy, stated that there will be cooperation with the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). He stated that in the selection of the academy teachers, first the head teachers from the universities will be assigned, and then the expert and senior teachers will be evaluated.
Teaching Internship Duration Application
According to the proposed proposal, the duration of teacher internship will be increased from 96 hours to at least 240 hours. With this change, teacher candidates will have the opportunity to gain more practice and experience.
