In an interview in Stockholm, Swedish official Billström emphasized that they have a strong military relationship with Turkey within the framework of NATO membership, saying, “We have excellent relations with Turkey because we are now full military allies thanks to our NATO membership.”

Billström, who stated that his country was at the stage of taking steps towards the security agreement agreed upon in the trilateral meeting between Turkey, Sweden and NATO in Vilnius, said, “Personally, I feel that things are progressing as planned.”

Billström stated that he was eagerly awaiting the NATO Summit to be held in Washington on July 9-11, and said, “I look forward to meeting and discussing with my counterpart Hakan Fidan as soon as possible, hopefully at the NATO Summit to be held in Washington next week.”

The Swedish minister explained his country’s position on Israel’s attacks on Gaza as follows: “Sweden is always in favor of a humanitarian ceasefire as soon as possible, the release of all prisoners and a return to negotiations for a two-state solution, with Israel and Palestine existing side by side as states, with the rest of the world providing security guarantees for these two peoples.”
