Afghanistan managed to advance to the semi-finals by beating Bangladesh by 8 points in the quarter-final match held in the West Indies. This victory allowed Afghanistan to reach the first semi-final in the history of the T20 Cricket World Cup.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Afghan government, Amir Khan Mottaki, congratulated the captain of the Afghanistan national cricket team, Rashid Khan, on his achievements by calling him. Thousands of cricket enthusiasts also supported their team by holding celebrations in the capital Kabul and other cities.
Afghanistan will face South Africa in Trinidad and Tobago on June 27. The England-India match on the same day will determine which teams will advance to the final. The final match in Barbados on June 29 will determine the Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup champions.
