According to a statement by the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s Special Representative for Syria, Aleksandr Lavrentyev, text in Amman. During the meeting, strengthening of bilateral relations and common issues were discussed.
Ayman Safadi and Aleksandr Lavrentyev discussed issues such as the ceasefire efforts in Gaza and the ongoing humanitarian crisis. Solutions to the Syrian issue were also discussed in detail. Safadi warned about the “danger of continued arms and drug smuggling from Syria to Jordan” and stressed that his country would take all necessary steps to end this danger.
The Jordanian army announced that there was a significant increase in drug and qualified weapons smuggling in 2023. The country has been fighting infiltration attempts and smuggling from Syria and Iraq for years. Safedi and Lavrentyev stated that they are determined to strengthen cooperation and develop common solutions on these issues.
