Hakan Akın, an antique dealer in Eskişehir, takes viewers on a nostalgic journey with his Eskişehir photographs from the 1900s to the 1930s. Akın, who has been involved in antique dealing for many years, takes great care in gathering the oldest photographs of the city. Akın, who generally creates his own collection with photographs from old houses and relatives of deceased citizens, has images of Eskişehir from the 1900s to the 1930s in particular.
Eskişehir’s History Comes to Life Again with Old Photographs
Describing Eskişehir’s historical photographs as ‘old memories’, Akın said, “We have the oldest black and white photographs of Eskişehir. These photographs, dating back to approximately 1900-1930, open a window to the city’s past. They provide information about old houses, streets and how Porsuk Stream used to look. Thanks to these photographs, we have the chance to visually experience the stories told by our elders.”
Hakan Akın’s Collection Contains 40-50 Eskişehir Photographs
There are currently 40-50 photographs of Eskişehir in Akın’s collection. These photographs are generally obtained from old houses, family collections or works left as inheritances by deceased citizens. The collection, which includes many photographs from the historical centers of Eskişehir, also increases interest in the city’s past.
