The museum, which was opened in 2013 to keep the memory of the 33 citizens who lost their lives in the treacherous attack that took place in the village of Başbağlar on July 5, 1993, alive, conveys the traces of the painful event to visitors. The museum in the village exhibits photographs and personal belongings of citizens aged between 13 and 74 who were shot and burned to death.
At the entrance to the museum, there is a board with the names of those who lost their lives in the massacre. At the same time, photographs of the weapons used in the attack and the scenes that emerged as a result of the looting of the houses in the village are presented to visitors.
Mehmet Ali Dikkaya, the President of the Başbağlar Village Beautification and Development Association, describes the details of the attack as follows: “The terrorist attack, which started at 20:00 on the evening of July 5, continued until 22:00. The terrorists, who raided the village from four directions, cut off the telephone lines and cut off the villagers’ communication with the outside world. The terrorists, who looted the houses and stole their jewelry, caused moments of terror in the village.”
