The Turkish Red Crescent has become the first Red Crescent to receive the Global First Aid Accreditation document issued by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). This accreditation confirms that the Turkish Red Crescent provides 16-hour certified first aid training in accordance with international standards.
The accreditation process is given as a result of a detailed review in which IFRC Global First Aid Reference Center officials evaluate all stages of first aid training during a field visit. Turkish Red Crescent succeeded in becoming the first Red Crescent and the seventh national association to receive this accreditation among 191 Red Crescent and Red Cross societies.
First Aid Training and Accessibility
Turkish Red Crescent continues its efforts to disseminate first aid knowledge through 30 First Aid Training Centers located in 23 provinces across Turkey. To date, 336 thousand 550 people have been given certified first aid training, while 702 thousand 948 people have been provided with face-to-face information training.
Certified trainings last 16 hours and include practical applications as well as theoretical lessons. The training programme aims to provide participants with the necessary first aid skills by covering a wide range of topics such as home accidents, work accidents, incidents that may occur on the street and emergencies.
Access to First Aid Information and Training
Basic first aid information, video content and training can be easily accessed via the Red Crescent’s website and mobile application. In addition, online first aid information training is provided to all volunteers.
The Red Crescent aims to reach large segments of society by diversifying its training and seminar programs with the aim of having a first aid in every home and ensuring that everyone has first aid knowledge.
