The tension-filled television debate between current President Joe Biden and his opponent, former President Donald Trump, before the presidential elections to be held in the USA in November, aroused great repercussions.
The debate that took place last Friday caused Biden to struggle against Trump and be criticized by some circles. Democratic Party circles and some media organizations, unhappy with Biden’s performance, began to pressure him to withdraw from the race.
The New York Times (NYT) newspaper published an article titled “President Biden Should Withdraw from the Race to Serve His Country.” Thomas Friedman, one of the writers of the newspaper, criticized Biden’s performance in the debate and said, “Biden’s situation affected me deeply. It may be the best decision to withdraw from the race to protect his honor.”
Time Magazine, on the other hand, carried the photo of Biden walking out of line after the debate on its cover with the title “Panic”. This reflected general concern about Biden’s performance.
On the other hand, Trump, who held his first rally after the debate in Virginia, stated that he achieved a great victory and made statements such as “Biden didn’t even know what he was doing.”
