DEM Party’s Attitude
DEM Party Diyarbakır MP Sevilay Çelenk supported the LGBT-themed show at the Olympics and reacted to those who criticized it. Çelenk said, “As for the LGBTI community, they do not harass anyone’s children, they do not harm anyone.”
Criticisms of Wreath
While Çelenk targeted those who reacted against LGBT, she also drew attention to the terrorist attacks in France. She also emphasized the PKK’s attacks on children and criticized the silence on this issue.
Reaction from AK Party
AKP Group Deputy Chair Leyla Şahin Usta reacted strongly to DEM Party member Çelenk’s statements. Usta criticized by saying, “God, God! What is this? Enough. We will not watch it, we will not let anyone watch it either.”
