43-year-old Serkan Topkaya, who works as a sprinkler operator at Izmir Regional Directorate of Forestry, set out to return to his place of duty, Kemalpaşa, with the vehicle he was driving after the fire in Bayındır district and was taken under control at night Topkaya died at the scene when the water sprinkler he was using fell into the ditch for an undetermined reason.

Governor Süleyman Elban wished patience to Serkan Topkaya’s family and emphasized that the forestry organization worked devotedly. Deputy General Director of Forestry İbrahim Yüzer stated that they lost their 140th martyr in the fight against forest fires and drew attention to the importance of the forest organization.
Funeral and Halal
Serkan Topkaya’s funeral will be held in the afternoon at Rabia Hatun Mosque in Kemalpaşa district, and then he will be buried in Cennetbahçe Cemetery. While receiving forgiveness, his family hugged Topkaya’s coffin and shed tears.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay also attended the funeral and expressed his condolences.
