In the incident that occurred in the Topçular village of Çilimli district, the lifeless body of an elderly man who fell into an irrigation canal was found. The details of the incident are as follows:
- AFAD and Gendarmerie Search and Rescue teams were dispatched to the scene.
- The teams took action upon the notice that a citizen suddenly disappeared while sitting next to the irrigation canal.
- Teams assessed the possibility that the person might be in the section of the canal that runs under the road, and vacuum trucks were used to drain the water.
- During the work, Çilimli Mayor Yılmaz Yıldız and Çilimli District Governor Furkan Alpay were also at the scene.
- As a result of the searches, a male body was found in the part of the water channel passing under the road.
- It was determined that the body belonged to 84-year-old Muzaffer Ak and it was taken to Çilimli State Hospital morgue.
- It was learned that Ak, who has Alzheimer’s disease, has been missing and wanted since June 21.
