The 60th anniversary of the Migration Agreement signed between Belgium and Turkey was celebrated enthusiastically with the ‘Expatriate Bird Festival’. Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, Belgian Ambassador to Ankara Mr. Paul Huynen, Belgian Consul General Tim Van Anderlecht and expatriate citizens attended the program.
Opening Remarks and Acknowledgments
In his opening speech, Minister Göktaş said, “With the 60th anniversary of migration, important figures emerged from society. The process that started with the first worker migration has today been enriched with doctors, engineers, leaders, artists and business people. With these examples of unity and success, we hope that the Turkey-Belgium friendship will continue to grow stronger.” “I wish,” he said.
Minister Göktaş emphasized that the Turkish community living in Belgium makes strong contributions to the society without forgetting their roots and by taking on a unifying role, and expressed his gratitude to everyone who participated in the festival.
Events and Stage Performances
Kubat, Doğukan Manço and Ali Pınar were among the artists who took the stage during the festival. While various events were organized in the festival area, the participants spent time together with enthusiasm.
