Statement from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) shared detailed information about the collapse of the multi-storey building in Bahçelievler.
While there were no casualties or injuries as a result of the collapse, it was stated that the lower three floors of the 44-year-old building were intact but the upper two floors were added later.
Following the incident, Istanbul Fire Department, AFAD and UMKE teams were mobilized. However, since no casualties or injuries were found, the search efforts were terminated.
Studies and Support
- İSKİ and İGDAŞ Intervention:İSKİ and İGDAŞ teams cut off water and gas intake. No leakage was detected by gas measurements.
- IMM Teams:Road Maintenance and Infrastructure Coordination Department, Social Services Department, AKOM, Police and 153 On-Site Solution teams supported the work.
Risky Structure Detection
It was stated that the collapsed building was built in 1980 and had a building registration certificate, but there was no certificate for the floors added later. It was reported that the building was not within the scope of risky building detection.
