AK Party Group Chairman Abdullah Güler made important statements about the bill that caused controversy regarding stray dogs.
Güler emphasized that dogs should be put to sleep and stated that veterinarians and public administrators will have the authority to decide on this issue. Stating that it is important to protect the health of dogs, Güler stated that there are animals that are at risk of rabies, are diseased and cannot be adopted.
Güler also gave information about the euthanasia practice and stated that the regulation in the proposal will be made with the definition of “euthanasia”. He stated that in the decision-making process on this issue, veterinarians and public administrators will decide whether dogs that are rabid, carry infectious diseases, have increased aggression and cannot be rehabilitated are put to sleep.
Güler emphasized that the most important topic in the bill is sterilization and stated that adoption will be encouraged as well as sterilization.
